Reog is a mask dance that glorify the source of their proclaim strenght - evil beings, involving trances and shows of super mystical powers. Although today, the dances are protrayed as a part of cultural entertainment, practices of magic and sociopathic behaviors (pedophillia between Warok and Gemblak) are still being practiced based on the beliefs of their history.
Many attempt has been made by evangelical churches to start new churches in Ponorogo, but have failed. Present churches are in existance partly because of their high tolerance of local practice and beliefs (sincritism).The Baptist church, is one of the churches that are trying to start new works in Ponorogo. Despite past failure and present resentment, the work will continue.
